FURNACE INSTALLATION & REPLACEMENT

Reliable Warmth. A More Efficient Home.

When your furnace is outdated, inefficient, or no longer keeping your property comfortable, it can affect the safety and reliability of your indoor environment. At Ferguson Plumbing Design Inc., our furnace installation and replacement services provide dependable heating solutions designed to improve comfort, efficiency, and overall performance.

Whether you’re replacing an aging furnace, upgrading to a more energy-efficient system, or installing a new unit, our experienced team can help you choose the right option for your space. A properly installed furnace can improve heating performance, reduce energy waste, and help keep your home or business warm and comfortable for years.

If you want, I can also make it shorter, more premium sounding, or closer in wording/length to the Boiler Replacement version.

HVAC Service and Furnace Installation

The right equipment is critical since this is such a large part of any home’s heating and cooling. We do not simply put in new gear without thorough thought for the whole HVAC system. Our service starts by getting to know the property, its electrical and heating demands, and the existing mechanicals. Only then can we make a knowledgeable and sound recommendation.

This is particularly true in this town, where there are a number of older homes. Depending on past remodeling or upgrades, the heating and cooling systems can be quite different. Some of the older infrastructure, both mechanical and electrical, calls for a measured approach on our part before any new installation is undertaken.
We also handle repair and maintenance if your current equipment needs attention, including heating repair.

Mechanical, Heating and Air Conditioning

Your furnace is only one piece of the puzzle; it has to coexist with your air conditioning and other systems. If you are looking to update both your cooling and heating, we will coordinate the work so they function as one. We can also offer energy-efficient heat pump options for those who want them, enhancing their HVAC system. And if a larger mechanical project involves plumbing or electrical work, we have the knowledgeable capabilities to see that through as well.

Why we serve Pepperell

Plenty of the furnaces we are called to replace do not need replacing yet, and we will say so. When it genuinely is time, the number that matters is not the unit price. It is whether the installation accounts for the house. That means an actual heat-loss assessment rather than matching the old nameplate, an honest look at whether the ductwork and returns can carry the airflow, a venting and condensate plan that meets the manufacturer’s spec, and the permits that put an inspector’s eyes on the result.
When replacement is the answer

Signs it is time

A cracked heat exchanger

This one is not a choice. It is a combustion safety issue.

Repairs stacking up

Two or three significant repairs in as many seasons.

Fifteen-plus years old

Not automatically finished, but worth pricing the alternative.

Rooms that never balance

Often sizing or distribution rather than the unit itself.

Fuel bills climbing

Efficiency falls as components age and wear.

Parts getting scarce

When a board or motor is no longer stocked, the clock is real.

Diagnose first

We would rather repair it if repair is honest.

How it works

One call. Four steps.

01

Call or request a quote

Tell us the symptom. A person takes the real details, what it is doing, where, and how long it has been going on.
02

We diagnose on-site

$49 dispatch fee. No diagnostic fee if we can see the problem; $99 if we have to break out tools.
03

Upfront price before any work

A firm number before anything starts, and where repair-versus-replace is a close call, both numbers and the honest tradeoff.
04

Guaranteed work

Permitted where code requires it, done to Massachusetts code, and cleaned up after.
What a proper install involves

The parts of the job you never see.

Sizing to the house rather than the old unit. Assessing the existing ductwork and returns, since a new furnace pushed through undersized returns will short cycle exactly like the old one did. Venting to spec, which for condensing units means specific slope, length and termination rules. Condensate handling and neutralisation where required. Gas supply confirmed adequate for the new load, the same sizing question that catches out tankless installs.

All of that is in the written quote before the job starts, itemised, not discovered later.

Efficiency and rebates

Ask before you commit to a like-for-like swap.

High-efficiency equipment and heat pump systems have carried Mass Save incentives, and the programme has been pushing hard toward electrification. That can change the repair-versus-replace maths and sometimes the choice of equipment entirely. Amounts and eligibility change yearly, so we confirm current standing before quoting rather than after, and we will tell you honestly if the boring like-for-like replacement is the better financial answer for your house.
Pricing transparency

What it costs to get us there.

$49 dispatch fee gets a licensed plumber and a stocked truck to your door. No diagnostic fee if we can see the problem. $99 diagnostic if we have to break out tools to find it. After that you get a firm price before any work starts. Nobody here is paid on commission.

More of what we do
Questions we actually get

Straight answers, no runaround.

How do you size a furnace?

By the house (its volume, insulation, windows and orientation) not by copying the old unit’s output. Matching the nameplate perpetuates whatever mistake was made last time, and oversizing is the most common one.

Will a new furnace fix my cold rooms?

Only if the unit was the cause. Rooms that never balance are usually a distribution problem. Undersized returns, long runs, leaking ducts. A bigger furnace makes that worse, not better, so we look at the ductwork before quoting equipment.

Do I need permits?

Yes, and we pull them and attend the inspection. Beyond the legal position, unpermitted heating work causes problems when you sell and can complicate an insurance claim.

How long does a replacement take?

A straightforward changeout is usually a day. Ductwork modifications, venting changes or a gas line upsize extend that, and you will know the timeline in the quote rather than on the day.

Should I consider a heat pump instead?

Worth a conversation. In the right house they are efficient and carry the strongest incentives; in a poorly insulated older home with no ductwork they can disappoint. We will give you the honest read for your building.

What does the assessment cost?

$49 dispatch, $99 if tools have to come out. The installation is quoted as a written scope with permits included.
