Heating Repair and Boiler Service

Your home’s comfort is at the mercy of a boiler that runs non-stop, making routine servicing a necessity. Our technicians will put the heating system through its paces, examining equipment performance and looking for anything amiss, as a licensed contractor would. They are on hand to make the right repairs as needed.

In the course of a regular check-up, we may find an issue with a control, pipe, or connection that requires immediate repairs and installations. It is better to deal with these plumbing and heating matters then and there to avoid a breakdown you did not see coming, ensuring your satisfaction with the service provided. For the homeowner, this is also a chance to get a clear picture of the state of their heating equipment and plan for any future work. With our combined plumbing and HVAC expertise, we can look at related issues in the context of the whole system and offer thorough solutions.

A Full Range of Plumbing and HVAC

Often, this type of work is part of a broader set of home comfort requirements. Our HVAC division handles everything from furnace and heating repair to air conditioning solutions, with a focus on thorough installations in Pepperell. Should the property require hot water repair or a new water heater, our team has the plumbing skills to see to it. We are equally capable of handling installations and repairs on the pipework tied to your heating equipment.

Whether it’s a gas or oil system, each one calls for the proper attention of a technician who knows how to assess the unit’s condition.

Plumbing Service

What We Bring to Pepperell

The historic character of many homes herel means you are likely dealing with older infrastructure; a system put in place years ago may have to coexist with more recent additions on the electrical or plumbing side. Our regular service is designed to spot any wear or compatibility issues before they become a headache, allowing for timely repairs and installations.

We have an appreciation for the area, from the rural setting and the Nashua and Nissitissit Rivers to the New England architecture, which makes our commercial plumbing services even more relevant. We know, too, that those fine winters demand a heating system you can count on.

Our method is straightforward: we communicate clearly and do the work that is needed without padding the bill to build trust with our customers. We want the customer to be satisfied and to know exactly what the system requires.

So if the heating is acting up with odd noises or uneven heat, or is just due for its turn, call for a service visit. We will take care of the HVAC and any other repairs to keep your heating running efficiently for the long haul.

Sound familiar?

What you’re probably seeing

A cracked section

On cast iron this ends the conversation. It cannot be repaired.

Repairs stacking up

Repair money chasing bad iron is the phrase for it.

Heat that never balances

Some zones scalding, others cold, whatever you do to the controls.

Rising fuel bills

Efficiency drops as the unit ages and fouls.

Constant pressure loss

Topping up regularly means water is going somewhere.

Parts no longer available

When the controls are obsolete, the timeline is set for you.

Diagnose first

A cold boiler is usually not a dead boiler.

Here’s what a no-heat call usually turns out to be: a stuck Taco zone valve. A failed circulator pump. A bad aquastat or thermostat. Air locked in the lines. A tripped low-water cutoff. An ignitor on its way out. Small parts, same-day fixes, not a boiler replacement.

Some outfits show up to a 25-year-old boiler and start the replacement pitch before they’ve touched a wrench. We don’t. We find the actual fault, tell you what it is, and give you the real repair price. If the boiler genuinely is done (cracked section, rotted burner tray, repair money chasing bad iron) we’ll say that too, and explain why. You’ll get the honest math either way.

How it works

One call. Four steps.

01

Call

(978) 679-7869. Tell us what the boiler’s doing, or not doing. If the house is cold, say so; no-heat calls jump the line in winter.
02

We diagnose on-site

$49 dispatch fee. No diagnostic fee if we can see the problem; $99 if we have to break out tools.
03

You get an upfront price

Repair cost in writing before we touch anything. If replacement is genuinely the smarter money, you get both numbers and the reasoning.
04

We do the work and stand behind it

Licensed Massachusetts plumbers, installed and repaired to code.
New England houses, New England boilers

The housing stock runs old. So do the heating systems. We work on all of it.

Steam boilers

One-pipe steam with cast-iron radiators is alive and well in older homes here. Banging pipes, spitting air vents, and water-level problems are its native language. We speak it.

Hot water (hydronic) boilers

Cast-iron workhorses, Weil-McLain and the like, feeding baseboard or radiators, often split into zones with circulators and Taco zone valves. The most common system in the area, and the most common repair call.

High-efficiency and combi boilers

Wall-hung condensing units like Navien. Great fuel bills, but they’re fussier. They need correct water chemistry, condensate handling, and someone who actually knows the fault codes.

Oil-to-gas conversions

Plenty of homes here still burn oil. When the tank or burner is due, converting is worth pricing out, especially alongside available rebates.
Boilers and hot water

Combi boilers and indirect tanks, in plain terms.

Two ways your boiler can also make your domestic hot water. Which one is right depends on your boiler, your household, and your hot water habits. We size it honestly instead of selling whatever’s on the truck.

A combi boiler

Does both jobs in one wall-hung unit: heat and hot water, no tank. Strong choice for small-to-mid-size homes; saves floor space and a separate appliance. Its limit is simultaneous demand: two showers plus a dishwasher will test it.

An indirect water heater

A well-insulated tank fed by your existing boiler. The boiler does the heating; the tank stores plenty of hot water. It usually outlasts a standard gas water heater because there’s no burner in it, nothing to rust from the inside out.
Plan ahead

January is the wrong month to find out.

A boiler that limped through last winter fails on the coldest night of this one. That’s just how it goes. And when heat fails in a Massachusetts cold snap, frozen pipes follow close behind; a burst pipe turns a no-heat problem into a water-damage problem in about an hour.

An annual fall tune-up catches the weak circulator, the dying ignitor, and the pressure creep before February does. If you’re going away in winter, ask us about freeze protection. It’s a short conversation that can save a very long insurance claim.

Mass Save

Replacing instead of repairing? Check the rebates first.

High-efficiency boilers and heat pump systems can qualify for Mass Save rebates and 0% HEAT Loan financing. It can meaningfully change the repair-versus-replace math, and we’ll walk you through what your project qualifies for.
What a service visit finds

The failures that give you notice.

A boiler runs more or less continuously through the season, which is exactly why routine servicing pays. Putting the system through its paces regularly turns up the control, pipe or connection that is on its way out, and dealing with it in the moment is what prevents the breakdown you did not see coming, at the hour you would least choose.

Old systems, newer additions

Much of the housing here means a boiler installed years ago now has to coexist with more recent work on the plumbing or electrical side. Regular service is where wear and compatibility problems surface, rather than in February.

Gas or oil, each on its own terms

They fail differently and they are assessed differently. What matters is a technician who knows which questions belong to which system rather than applying one checklist to both.
Pricing transparency

Pricing, up front.

$49 dispatch fee to get a truck to your door. No diagnostic fee if we can see the problem. $99 diagnostic if we have to break out tools to find it. Repair quoted in writing before work starts, and replacement quoted with the rebate math included.

More of what we do
Questions we actually get

Straight answers, no runaround.

Repair or replace, how do I know?

Age alone doesn’t decide it. A 30-year-old cast-iron boiler with a bad circulator is a repair. A boiler with a cracked heat exchanger is a replacement, whatever its age. We give you the fault, both prices where it’s a real choice, and our honest read on which is smarter money.

Do you work on steam boilers?

Yes. Steam is common in the older housing stock around here and plenty of companies won’t touch it. Banging pipes, water-level issues, failed vents, bring it on.

Do you service Weil-McLain and Navien?

Yes. Both are everywhere in this area and we work on them constantly. Cast-iron Weil-McLain systems, Navien combis and high-efficiency units, and the other major brands too.

One zone of my house won’t heat. Is that expensive?

Usually not. A single cold zone typically points to a stuck zone valve, a failed circulator, or air in the loop: common parts, straightforward fixes. It’s one of the most frequent calls we run.

What’s an indirect water heater and why would I want one?

A storage tank heated by your boiler instead of its own burner. More hot water, fewer parts to fail, longer life than a standard tank. If you already have a boiler, it’s often the smartest hot water setup in the house.

My heat died and it’s below freezing. What do I do right now?

Call us: (978) 679-7869. While you wait: open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls and let faucets drip a trickle. Moving water freezes slower, and that can be the difference between a cold night and a burst pipe.

Get the heat back

Cold house? Say so. You jump the line.

Call and tell us what the boiler’s doing. We’ll tell you what it likely is, what it costs to find out for sure, and how fast we can be there, including nights and weekends in a cold snap.
